A common complaint I receive concerning arc-rated faceshields is the dark tint. Qualified employees complain this reduces their visibility while performing work on energized electrical conductors. BSD has recently manufactured a clear faceshield. According to Thomas Jordan, of BSD: “The difference to other shields is the fact, that there is no color in the shield. Tinted faceshields absorb the radiant energy. BSD faceshield reflect the radiant energy. This effect is made by coating of the polycarbonate visor and is still working in case of scratches on the screen.”
